CBP recommends submitting your ESTA at least 72 hours before departure. Most applications are processed within minutes, but some require manual review.
Renew Before Expiry
Set a reminder 30 days before your ESTA expires. A new application is required — there is no renewal option. Your old ESTA number will change.
Carry Proof of Return
CBP officers may ask for a return ticket, hotel reservations, or proof of funds. Having these documents ready speeds up entry at the port.
Know Your US Address
You'll need a US contact address (hotel, Airbnb, or host) for the application. 'Unknown' is accepted but may trigger additional screening.
